Spain Week 3

We recently learned about cathedral architecture in class after having visited Seville's huge gothic cathedral and then Cadiz's scaled down baroque cathedral.
Then our hearts broke when we heard the news about Notre Dame. Meanwhile Holy Week continues in southern Spain with large parades of the faithful carrying enormous, ancient, gilded, and statue-laden floats of religious figures while slowly walking to the beat of full marching bands. It is an amazing experience. The processions wind their way around the city at all hours and we have had to figure out new routes to accommodate. But our students are sleeping well despite the drums. Everyone says that walking all over the place has been wonderful and we are all feeling great. We will slip out of the city super early on Easter morning to take the ferry(!) to our next adventure in Morocco.

Happy spring for now,
