Mathilde Dépéry Q & A with @VAWildcatNation

Hometown: Annecy Ie Vieux, Haute-Savoie, France
Wildcat Nation: What’s your favorite sport to play at Vermont Academy and why?
Mathilde: My favorite sport is tennis because it is a complete sport; it is physical, mental, tactical. It is the sport where I feel I can be at 200% every time I come onto the court.
For this upcoming season, I am excited to have fun with the Girls Varsity tennis team because, before anything else, tennis is a passion and I just want to have fun doing it. I like to come to practice and see everybody smiling because we are just happy to play with one another. The team is very diverse and it is always interesting to learn from each other. This season will definitely be a lot of fun and I can't wait to compete.

Wildcat Nation: Who is your favorite teacher at VA and why?
Mathilde: My favorite faculty member at VA is Mr. Burmester because he is so invested in everything that he is doing and he wants to teach us how to have fun while doing theatre.

Wildcat Nation: Do you have a favorite quote?
Mathilde: My favorite quote is: "There is no easy win nor definitive defeat" ~Marcel Proust (more or less, I translated it from French)

Wildcat Nation: Favorite VA tradition?
Mathilde: My favorite tradition at VA is the Wildcats Games. They are at the beginning of the year and people who don't already really know one another join forces to win challenges.

Wildcat Nation: Anything else about VA worth mentioning?
Mathilde: My experience at Vermont Academy has been special. I really came out of my comfort zone to try different things and I don't regret any of it; a year ago I would've never imagined that I would be doing Nordic skiing or be a part of a theatrical production. Vermont Academy is the place where you find a new dimension of yourself.

Wildcat Nation: What will you miss most about Vermont Academy?
Mathilde: I will miss the community in general. Vermont Academy is a small and friendly community. I like the fact that all of our teachers and coaches care so deeply.
