VA Alumni Doing the Dance

Vermont Academy students, alumni and faculty annually view NCAA March Madness with a strong gusto of Wildcat pride, and 2019 will be no different. Vermont Academy’s Bailey Patella ’17, Jordan Nwora ’17, and Marcus Santos-Silva ’17 will all participate in the 2019 Men’s Basketball Division I Championship representing the University of Vermont, Louisville University and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), respectively.
Bailey Patella ‘17 and the University of Vermont (27-6 overall) earned the number 13 seed in the West bracket after winning the America East conference tournament. Bailey’s Catamounts will take on the fourth seeded Florida State Seminoles (27-7 overall) in Hartford, CT. Tune in: Thursday, March 21st at 2:00 pm on TBS.

Jordan Nwora ‘17 and Louisville (20-13 overall) earned the 7 seed in the East bracket after an impressive season in the ACC. Jordan was named Most Improved Player in the conference this season after leading the Cardinals in both scoring (17.7 PPG) and rebounding (7.5 RPG). Louisville is set to play the Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota. The winner of this game will see either Marquette (Symir Torrence ’19’s future school) or Murray State in Des Moines, IA. Marcus Santos-Silva ’17 and VCU (25-7 overall) earned the 8 seed in the East bracket after winning the Atlantic 10 regular season championship. Marcus recently tallied 26 points and 22 rebounds in an Atlantic 10 Tournament game against the University of Rhode Island. The VCU Rams match up with the UCF Knights in round one in Columbia, SC. The winner will most likely play tournament favorite Duke University. Tune in:Friday, March 22nd at 9:40 pm on CBS
