Cannon SB Slopestyle 2/6/19

John Kelly
We ventured to Northern New Hampshire for the 2nd slopestyle of the season. The VA Girls team finished 1st in team scoring and the boys were 3rd. Lucy Saunders '19 rebounded from a tough fall in her first run to make the most of her 2nd, and finish 2nd in the individual scoring. Kalaya Hudziec '22 rode well with her trademark easy style to finish in 3rd. On the boys side our top finisher was Samson Orlinsky '21, who had flashes of brilliance, but could not link those flashes in the same run. Samson was 10th. Next, was up and comer and birthday boy, Logan McAllister '20 in 12th place with 2 solid runs including a 50-50 grind to frontside board slide and solid indy grabs. 17th place was filled by Maurice Day "21. Maurice is building his confidence and style at a steady pace. In 22nd place. Matt Bartelli '19, started the comp with an impressive hand drag tail press, but could not complete either run without falls. Matt continues to push his riding in unique directions. Next week VA hosts the 2019 Lakes Region Snowboarding Championships at Okemo with a 10am Giant Slalom start on Wardance Trail and a 1pm Slopestyle start on Crazy Train park. We will close out our competitive season with a rail jam at Proctor on 2/20 and a scheduled boarder cross race at Ragged on 2/27. Come out and ride/ski. It is an epic winter!
