Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week

This year the Boys’ Basketball team is participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week put on by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society.
The Suits and Sneakers Week is a nationwide event when basketball coaches and teams unite to save lives from cancer by raising awareness, fundraising, and encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.

Coach Alex Popp and his coaching staff will wear sneakers with their suits on Saturday, January 26th in their home game against Worcester Academy at 5:30 p.m. Coach Popp said, “one of my good friends lost the battle to cancer this fall and it was challenging to witness. When the good folks from Coaches vs. Cancer presented this opportunity, it felt like the perfect way to pay homage to my friend. Most people have loved ones who have lost their lives to cancer, so It’s quite an honor to have Vermont Academy basketball as the platform to raise money for such a noble cause. ”
