Flood Gates Open at Home

The Wildcats hosted Millbrook School for a 5 p.m. matchup at the Choukas Arena. Segui ’21 earned her 6th start of the season. Vermont Academy came out strong, controlling the play in the offensive zone and creating scoring opportunities. The Wildcats were able to capitalize six minutes in. Creamer ’21 scored off of a feed from Walsh ’22 and Powers ’22. Less than a minute later Streed ’19 added an unassisted goal to put VA up by two heading into the second period. The next 16 minutes were also scattered with goals. VA put up the first two one from Citera ’21 off a feed from Creamer ’21 and Walsh ’22. The second goal of the period was short-handed from Walsh ’22. With ten minutes left in the period, Millbrook was able to capitalize, their only of the night. To close out the period Walsh ’22 added another from Creamer ’21 during four on four play. The third period both teams battled, however, no one was able to score as the goalies stood tall. The Wildcats finished the night with 31 shots and Segui ’21 had 21 saves on 22 shots. Vermont Academy is excited to welcome Kalty ’20 and Klara ’20 back from Japan where they represented the Czech Republic at the 2019 IIHF U18 World Championships. The Wildcats are back in action on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Lakes Region rival, Kimball Union.
