"Really a Home to Every Student"

A Q&A with Mia Hennum '22
Mia Hennum '22 arrived on campus just a few weeks ago and was already named the freshman class's Scholar of the Month at this morning's Community Meeting. We caught up with her this week.

Vermont Academy: What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about all the arts! Anytime I can get the opportunity, I love to sing! I also take modern, jazz, ballet, and hip hop classes. But I’m most passionate about theater. I’m in a production of Our Town as Emily and I’m in VA’s fall show, Almost, Maine!

Vermont Academy: Favorite meal in the dining hall?

I don’t think I’ve been here long enough to decide what my favorite meal is. But my favorite drink is our famous chocolate milk.

Vermont Academy: How is advisory going?

Advisory is all about getting a closer connection with your fellow classmates and your teacher. It’s useful to have these resources.

Vermont Academy: What do you love about VA?

I love so many things about Vermont Academy. I love how immediately you knew that this school was really a home to every student. The teachers genuinely care about making sure you understand whatever subject they’re teaching, and you enjoy it too! Everyone’s so accepting to everyone as individuals but also as a community.

Vermont Academy: What’s your favorite class at VA?

I love all of my classes, so it’s hard to decide! I think my favorite would have to be English because I love the content, and I have a lot of fun with my classmates in that class.
