Vermont Academy is once again partnering with six fellow independent schools in northern New England to host an in-person gathering at The Penn Club of New York on Thursday, March 30.

Keynote remarks by Sung You, managing partner at PBM Capital Group, will be followed by breakout discussions with alumni volunteers from each school facilitating conversations among peers in their industries.

Keynote Speaker: Sung You, Managing Partner at PBM Capital Group
Sung sources and evaluates new investment opportunities and provides business support for our portfolio companies. Sung is also leading the efforts in meeting and working with the brilliant minds who would like to partner with us in developing revolutionary therapies. 

Prior to joining PBM Capital, Sung was a Vice President in the Healthcare Investment Banking group at Morgan Stanley in New York. She led execution of mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt transactions for clients across the healthcare industry. Her coverage focus included large pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Sung also was nominated and selected by the firm management to co-chair the Morgan Stanley Institutional Nonprofit Collaborative, an ongoing semi-annual firmwide initiative, partnering with Youth I.N.C. to identify and deliver strategic projects for its affiliated nonprofits. Prior to her time at Morgan Stanley, she was a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator in the Neuroendocrine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where she managed multiple clinical trial projects including two Phase III trials from start to finish including patient screening, recruitment, enrollment, data collection and analysis. She has five publications in leading medical journals including two publications in the Journal of the American Medical Association, JAMA. 

Sung graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with an AB in Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology from Dartmouth College and received an MBA and SM from MIT Sloan School of Management and Harvard Medical School – MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology.

Taylor Hartwright ’12 | Vermont Academy | Co-Founder at Victoria Capital Investments  
Taylor Hartwright is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Victoria Capital Investments (VCI). Prior to starting VCI, he established and directed a social media management and online branding company. At VCI he contributes ten years of experience in digital marketing, with a focus on small business creation and brand management. Taylor earned his bachelor's degree at Pace University and his J.D. at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. 

Ahmet Hamdi Cavusoglu ’02 | Cardigan Mountain School | Program Director, Merck Digital Sciences Studio  
Ahmet-Hamdi Cavusoglu, PhD is a Program co-Director for the Merck Digital Sciences Studio (MDSS), a program bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, resource providers, and the broader business community to further the startup development ecosystem. Hamdi is responsible for ensuring that each company is positioned to maximize their success through content and programming experience, fit and integration with opportunities with MDSS partners, as well as focusing on driving investor readiness to improve fundraising outcomes. Prior to MDSS, Hamdi ran the Academic Venture Exchange (AVX) and was responsible for coordinating and operating the premier matchmaking network for university-based intellectual-property (IP) start-ups and spin-offs from preeminent research institutions in the United States. 

Lydia Chen ’11 | The White Mountain School | Senior Data Analyst, Classification at DoubleVerify
Lydia Chen is a senior analyst who works to classify all online content (from news articles to TikToks) and aims to provide everyone with a safer internet. With a background in data science, she supports various teams and vendors to provide the most effective auto-classification solutions that ensure inappropriate content, such as hate speech, is demonetized. Some of those classification solutions are NLP (Natural Language Processing), computer vision, and human-in-loop machine learning models. She is a former Young Alum Trustee for The White Mountain School and received White Mountain’s prestigious Head’s Award upon graduation. A 2015 graduate of Syracuse University, Lydia double majored in Advertising and Information Technology, with minors in Economics and Global Enterprise Technology.

Nick Green ’07 | Proctor Academy | Licensed Real Estate Professional at Compass  
Nick is known for getting deals done with honed finesse. He sees every relationship as a lifelong one, going above and beyond to get his clients into the right home. Nick’s 10+ years of sales experience in New York City has given him extensive knowledge, not just of neighborhoods but also of personalities. Combined with his research and analytic capabilities, Nick knows how to negotiate for the best possible outcome. He takes care of all transaction details to keep the process stress-free for his clients.

Abigail Nintzel ’01 | Kimball Union Academy | Chief of Staff at Revlon, Inc.
Abigail Nintzel is currently the chief of staff at Revlon, where she works across the company to develop and implement cross-functional strategic initiatives. Prior to Revlon, Abigail was a consultant at Bain & Company, where she advised clients in the consumer and retail space. Abigail began her career in the Executive Development Training Program at Bloomingdale’s, where she spent six years as a buyer. Abigail has an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Connecticut College. She lives in New York City and is an avid runner, traveler, and explorer of the outdoors. She is also a co-chair of the Emerging Leadership Council at the 92nd Street Y. 

Lizzy Takyi ’13 | Dublin School | Social Studies teacher at MESA Charter High School
Born and raised in Accra, Ghana, Lizzy Takyi found herself on a journey to the United States when she was just 10 years old. Her four years at Dublin School encouraged her to pursue colleges in the New England region. In fall 2013, she matriculated at Bowdoin College, a small liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. Lizzy earned her BA in Africana Studies and Anthropology in spring 2017. As someone who grew up on another continent, immigrated, landed in the biggest city in New Jersey, made it to the rural area of New Hampshire, and survived the freezing temperatures in Maine, her experience is unique. Her transatlantic journey guided her interest in pursuing a degree in cultural anthropology. In 2019, became the Alumni Relations Associate at Newark Academy, a private day school in NJ. Two years later, she is thrilled to have transitioned to a teaching role as a social studies teacher at MESA Charter High School.
