Vermont Academy is easily accessible from Interstate 91 and Route 121. The school is 90 minutes from Bradley International Airport (BDL), which serves Hartford, Connecticut, and Springfield, Massachusetts.

  • Directions from Route 91, Exit 5

    From the south: Take I-91 to Vermont Exit 5. *Exit ramp will fork; take LEFT fork (ignoring signs for Routes 5 and 121 and Saxtons River to the right). The road will come to a T; at this intersection turn right onto Back Westminster Road and follow this road for approximately 2 1/2 miles until its junction with Route 121. Turn left onto Route 121 and proceed approximately 3 miles to the village of Saxtons River. In the village, you will see a sign for Vermont Academy on the right. Take the next right onto Pleasant Street and then the first left onto Burk Hill Street, which leads into Vermont Academy's main entrance. Proceed up the hill onto the campus; bear right between Jones building (on your left) and the headmaster's residence (on your right). You may park in the designated spaces on your left just past the dorm.

    The Admissions Office is located in Fuller Hall.

    From the north: Take Exit 5 off I-91 South. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right. Follow directions above for “from the south” (see * above).

    From the east: Follow Route 2 west to I-91 to Vermont Exit 5. Follow directions above for “from the south” (see * above).

    New York City: 227 miles; 4 hours
    Hartford: 112 miles; 1 hour 30 minutes
    Boston: 117 miles; 2 hours 30 minutes
    Montreal: 225 miles; 4 hours

    Train (Amtrak) and bus (Vermont Transit Lines) service is available to the town of Bellows Falls, Vermont, approximately five miles from the school.
  • Directions from Major Airports

    From Bradley International (Hartford): approximate travel time, 1 hour 30 minutes

    Exit the airport and take Interstate 91 north. Continue on I-91 until you reach exit 5 in Vermont, which is the Westminster/Bellows Falls exit. See directions for "from the south" (see * above).

    From Logan International (Boston): approximate travel time, 2 hours, 30 minutes

    Exit the airport and take Interstate 93 back towards Boston. Look for the exit for Storrow Drive and take that exit. Continue on Storrow Drive until you see the exit for Cambridge and Route 2. Take Route 2 west to Route 140 north at Gardner, MA. Stay on Route 140 north until you come to Route 12 north. Take a left onto Route 12 north, heading toward Keene, NH.  At the junction of Route 12 and Route 101, take a left and head west on Route 101. You will go continue through a rotary and then take a right onto Route 12 north which will head to Walpole, NH. You'll pass a yellow blinking light, and then take a left at Route 123, which will take you over the Connecticut River and into Vermont. Turn right on Route 5 north. Travel approximately 1/4 mile and then take a left at the sign for I-91. Go past the entrance to 91 and take a right on Back Westminster Road. Follow this road  until it ends at Route 121. Take a left and continue into Saxtons River, approximately 3 miles. Turn right onto Pleasant St.  Turn left at the first Vermont Academy entrance, and proceed up the hill onto campus.  Please park in the circular driveway.  The Admissions Office is the small cobblestone cottage visible between the first two red brick buildings.

    From Manchester Airport: approximate travel time, 2 hours 

    Exit the airport and take Route 101 west to Keene, NH. Take Route 12 north from Keene and follow the directions from Logan (above) from that point.
