Joseph F. DeVincentis, former owner of Joe D's Restaurant & the Revlin Plaza Function Hall, passed away Thursday morning, December 29, 2016 at his home in Marshfield with his loving family at his side, he was 83.
Joe was born in Boston the son of the late Joseph A. & Grace M. (Ford) DeVincentis. He was raised in Somerville and was a Somerville High School graduate. After high school Joe attended Vermont Academy & the University of New Hampshire. In Somerville in 1952, Joe married, the love of his life Louise A. McAllister. The couple settled in Malden and started a family. Over the year they would welcome into the family five sons and four daughters. Joe and Louise spent sixty years together, until Louise's passing in January of 2012. Joe along with his wife Louise owned Joe D's Restaurant and the Revlin Plaza Function Hall both in Malden. Joe was the Past Master three times, of the Mt. Vernon Lodge Masonic AF & AM, Malden. He was the former Commissioner of the Malden Babe Ruth Baseball and later coached many years with the Babe Ruth League. Joe was an avid Boston sports fan, he enjoyed his time with his wife and family in Florida during the winter months and his summers at his place in Marshfield. Joe is survived by his children, Joseph A. DeVincentis and wife Roni of Danvers, Paul H. DeVincentis and wife Marie of Malden, Lynn A. McCoy of Peabody, Nancy J. Fermano and husband Tony of Peabody, Diane M. Rocci and friend Ray Doucette of Everett, Joyce L. Munroe and husband Mike of Peabody, Robert F. DeVincentis and wife Mary of Malden, Gary S. DeVincentis and wife Tricia of Walpole. His cherished eighteen grandchildren and "Papa Joe" to his twenty loving great-grandchildren. Mr. DeVincentis was predeceased by his loving wife Louise A. DeVincentis, his son Thomas J. DeVincentis and his parents Joseph A. & Grace M. DeVincentis. Joe's funeral will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 8:45AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St., Malden at 10AM. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers the family has asked contributions in Joe's memory be made to the Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Dr., Rockland, MA 02370-1055.
