Alumni Gather for Recent Alumni Events in Denver, Boston, and NYC

We are so excited to see in-person alumni events taking off this spring! Gatherings in Denver, Boston, and New York City in March and April reinvigorated our spirits and demonstrated the importance of making in-person connections while continuing to provide virtual engagement opportunities. Alumni enthusiasm for in-person events can be seen in the nearly 80 registrants for Reunion in June! Read on to learn more about recent alumni events.
Vermont Academy alumni have fully embraced the return to in-person events with 8 alumni and their guests joining Head of School Dr. Jennifer L. Zaccara for appetizers and drinks at My Neighbor Felix in Denver, CO.

This gathering was soon followed by two networking events in collaboration with fellow northern New England independent schools in Boston and New York City. On Wednesday, April 6, eight Vermont Academy alumni attended the Boston event where panelists Scott Buckley ’02 and Andrew Guard ’01 participated in an alumni panel that spoke to an audience of approximately 60 alumni from six schools. “ Andrew commented, “It was a great evening of collectively sharing our stories, many of which mirror one another regardless of industry, across the Lakes Region schools. I look forward to attending more events like this in the future!" Boston event attendee Daniel Weinger ’02 also shared, “It was great to attend an in-person event to reconnect with VA and get out in the Boston community.  Hearing from other young alumni regarding their chosen paths was insightful--the panel certainly had a wide range of experiences. Learning how others got where they are is always helpful to assess our own choices, and recognize that there is no pre-set linear path we must follow.”

The following evening, panelist Matt Neuman ’03 was one of the six Vermont Academy alumni in attendance at the New York City event where approximately 50 alumni from six schools assembled. NYC event attendee Eddie Miller ’15 shared, “I attended the Lakes Region networking event in NYC to connect with other VA alums in the area and make new connections with alums from similar schools. I was excited to reconnect with VA alums that I didn’t know were in the area and had a blast meeting new people from VA and the other Lakes Region schools and exchanging stories about our time in the Lakes Region. My favorite piece of advice was from VA alum Matt Neuman ’03 who mentioned passion being essential to figuring out what we want to do career-wise and to prioritize passion in everything we do.”

In addition to the recent in-person gatherings, the Alumni Council hosted an online March Madness bracket. While 19 brackets were created, there could only be one winner! Congratulations to LuckyLucas on your winning bracket and thank you to all who participated!
