Winter Performing Arts Celebration a Huge Success!

March roared into Horowitz Performing Arts Hall with a celebration of Vermont Academy’s Performing Arts groups. As Head of School Dr. Jennifer Zaccara said afterwards, “Every year I always say that the winter concert is the best ever, but tonight something special happened with every performance. The talent and passion of all of the performers and their dedicated faculty transported the audience. From James Bond to Fleetwood Mac to student musical solos and ensembles, to an unforgettable performance of the Seven Deadly Sins, we all fell into a reverie of spiritual experience, self-reflection and gratitude.” Photos can be seen in our Flickr album.

The theme of this season’s Dance Team performance was “The Seven Deadlies.”  There were 9 dances: Big Spender, Greed, Lust, Pride, Envy, Sloth, Wrath, Gluttony, and Redemption. The Vermont Academy Dance Team’s lead choreographer is Ms. Kristen Leach from MoCo Arts in Keene, NH. Our tap choreographer is Kristina Giarrusso. Our student choreographers are Mia Hennum ’22, Eliza Asante ’22, and Kim Perusa ’22. The dancers are Eliza Asante ’22, Sophie Balk ’25, Ruby Besson ’25, Laina Diamantis ’25, Mia Hennum ’22, Wolfgang Morlock ’22, and Kim Perusa ’22. Ms. Amy Lanterman is the coach.

At the end of the performance people congratulated Ms. Lanterman, who is retiring at the end of this year after teaching and coaching at Vermont Academy for over 30 years. As Dr. Zaccara noted, “In coaching dance and in her work in learning support, Amy Lanterman has touched so many lives. Our graduates continually tell me how important she has been in their Vermont Academy experience. Tonight, she danced with the dancers and she brought the word ‘Forgiveness’ forward at a time when we need this healing thought. The final statement of ‘Love’ is a testament to her gifts to all of us and countless others many of us do not know.  Thank you, Amy. There is no one like you!”
