Vermont Academy at Liceo Europeo Celebrates Its First Annual Pumpkin Day
Vermont Academy at Liceo Europeo celebrated its first annual Pumpkin Day on October 29, 2021. The students designed the event based on Vermont Academy’s annual Pumpkin Run where students have a fun 5K run as a way of collecting food for a local charity. VALE decided to put a different spin on the event and turn it into a celebration for over 1,000 Liceo Europeo students ages preK-grade 12 while still keeping the concept of each student bringing at least one non perishable food item to the event.
VALE students designed pumpkin themed games and created all of them using recyclable materials. The events included a Pumpkin Run, Fishing for Ghosts, Pumpkin Coloring pages, Face Painting, Toss the Ball at the Giant Pumpkin, Pumpkin Pie Pan Toss, Pumpkin and Ghost Fitness course, Pumpkin Mini Golf, Flying Ghost Volleyball, Futbol, and a Costume Parade. The VALE students and staff ran all of the games with the assistance of the Liceo Europeo IB CAS program.
We donated over 1,000 non perishable food items to the local Red Cross. The goal of the day was to celebrate and build community and enable students to participate in service which benefits their city. By building all of the events from recyclable materials we also are committing to the philosophy of reduce, reuse, and recycle. It was a great day and we look forward to next year.
