Important and Beneficial Changes to the End-of-Year Schedule and Commencement
The fast-spreading Omicron variant quickly threw the world into disarray, and the impact of it has led us to think about the busy, family-packed last weekend of our academic year. We discovered that a change to our planned schedule would provide our Class of 2022 and their families with an opportunity for an even more meaningful celebration! And more family members will be able to attend the celebration.
Here are the changes to the schedule:
Members of the Classes of 2023, 2024, and 2025 will be required to leave campus on Friday, May 20, between noon and 6 PM. This is a day earlier than planned.
The Class of 2022 trip will be scheduled for Saturday, May 21.
Graduation rehearsal, the Long Walk Sprint, and the Class of 2022 vs. Faculty Softball Game will be Sunday, May 22.
Families of the Class of 2022 can arrive on campus Sunday afternoon, May 22, and share a community celebration meal with us before attending Baccalaureate on Sunday night.
Commencement will take place at 11 AM on Monday morning, May 23, followed by lunch. All remaining students and families will then leave campus Monday afternoon.
This plan helps us celebrate our graduating students’ accomplishments and keep our community safe. We will likely see new variants between now and the end of the school year, and this new schedule minimizes overlap between underclass and Class of 2022 families. Population density on campus caused by families picking up students and those coming in for commencement creates too much opportunity for community spread.
Thank you for your flexibility with this matter! I hope you are as excited as I am to celebrate the Commencement of the wonderful Class of 2022!
