  • Step 1: Inquire

    If you have not done so already, please fill out our inquiry form and tell us more about yourself, so we can share more information with you about Vermont Academy.
  • Step 2: Visit Campus

    Come visit us in the foothills of Southern Vermont! To schedule a visit please call us at (802)-869-6229 or email

    Please allow about two hours for your visit. Every visit will include a tour of campus from a student tour guide (when school is in session), an interview with an admissions counselor, and time with members of our community.

    If you would like to meet with a specific coach or program director on your visit please let us know when you are scheduling.

    Interviews are required for all applicants. We prefer on-campus interviews, however if you are unable to visit campus Skype or FaceTime interviews may be arranged.
  • Step 3: Apply

    The application is an opportunity for you to share your strengths and interest with us. Applicants to Vermont Academy should use the Standard Application Online (SAO).

    There are other application formats if you prefer; however, most families have found the SAO to be the easiest. We also accept the Gateway to Prep Schools Application. You can also download the paper application in full or in sections below.

  • Step 4: Required Testing

    We require a form of standardized testing from each applicant.
    For 9th and 10th graders, we request the SSAT placement exam. Fore more information, please visit Our SSAT school code is 7936.

    For 11th graders through postgraduates, we request the PSAT, SAT or ACT.

    For International applicants that are non-native speakers of English we accept the TOEFL exam. Our TOEFL school code is 6892.

    We also accept the Duolingo English Test, which can be taken online at any time. It is a fast and inexpensive alternative to other options - it takes approximately 45 minutes and costs $49.
