VA Announces Plans for a New Expanded Learning Center
7/24/2009
Vermont Academy is pleased to announce the expansion of its Learning Skills Program. As part of this development, the Academy has begun an exciting building project to further integrate the program into the life of the school.
After exploring several opportunities on campus, the school has
determined that the amount of space, natural light, central location,
and general atmosphere of Proctor Hall (our current Library) makes it the best location for the program’s new home. Thanks to the generosity of a major donor, the Academy’s existing library space will soon be transformed into a dynamic learning center incorporating Library materials, our college counseling offices, and a beautiful new space for our learning skills program. Upon entering Proctor Hall, the Library is the first space encountered and allows ample room for students using the Library or circulating through to use the Learning Skills Center or the College Counseling services. The space is open and filled with natural light. The Learning Center is centrally located on the first floor and consists of a testing room, a tech room, and five classroom/office spaces. In addition, a comfortable student work area allows teacher/student interaction in a casual and flexible atmosphere. The College Counseling program will reside on the second floor and include three offices and a large, multipurpose room, which will support all of the program functions in the building and may be used to schedule other functions on campus. Work on the project will begin soon and is expected to finish sometime this fall.
