The Lady Wildcats once again put on an impressive show at the plate on Saturday, scoring 30 runs in a win against Brewster. The team was lead by the solid hitting of junior first basemen Jordan Wright. Jordan ended the day a double short of hitting for the cycle. Also hitting a homerun was senior captain Peyton Wilson. The lady Wildcats came out with a big win today against Brewster. It was a perfect day for softball and the girls came out to the field ready to play. We were very patient at the plate, waiting for good pitches to hit and forcing the Brewster pitcher to throw strikes. The bats came alive early in the second inning and the girls put up nine quick runs. Seniors captains Peyton Wilson and Kelly Johnson both performed exceptionally well at the plate. Also hitting well was junior first basemen Jordan Wright, and sophmore second basemen Sam Gillingham. Karen Porl and Abby Thomas held down the defense with solid infield play. Kelly Johnson recorded her third complete game of the year, striking out nine batters while only allowing three hits on the day.

We were handed out second loss of the season yesterday by a hard-hitting, well coached Tilton squad. Tilton jumped out ahead early and held their commanding lead for the rest of the game. Our girls showed their toughness throughout the game, never giving up and always staying positive. Senior centerfielder Peyton Wilson lead the team with two hits and two put-outs, while Kelly Johnson pitched her second complete game of the season. We face Brewster at home this coming Saturday at 3:30. Come on down to the game and support the Wildcats!

With almost all the snow gone and the fields drying up, the girls have hit the fields running! Running hills, running bases, running through town! The girls are also improving the accuracy of their throws and quick releases. Freshman Karen Porl: "We are all improving in many different, individual ways while at the same time, really coming together as a team!" 1, 2, 3, Wildcats Whoooraaa!

The lady Wildcats are finding their groove this week despite the less than cooperative weather. We continue to make strides defensivly, and the bats are starting to come alive in the cage. The girls have done an outstanding job of motivating eachother and pushing themselves mentally and physically. The practices have gotten tougher every day and the girls are more than happy to rise to the occasion! The pitchers and catchers have started working with Coach Tracie Shaunessy. Senior Kelly Johnson, Freshmen Aileenka Hardesty and Karen Porl make up the heart of our pitching staff while Junior Megan Knight remains our starting catcher behind the plate. The whole team is excited to get outside so cross your fingers and think SUN!

The VA softball team got outside yesterday for the first time this season! The team found a nice dry spot outside of the gym and worked on fielding and hitting. We later enjoyed a nice team run through town. The girls are working hard and getting excited for our first game! We have a lot of young talent so we have a few strong years to look forward to!
