WILDCATS FINISH THE SEASON WITH A WIN AT HOME
2/25/2013

The VA Girls Varsity BB team ended their season on a strong note with a 32-30 OT win on Senior Day vs Class D MacDuffie School on Saturday.

MacDuffie came out strong in the first half and took a 17-14 lead in at halftime. Big shots by Captain Maddie Cota and Karen Porl kept the home team close. In the second half, MacDuffie would stretch their lead slightly, only to see VA come fighting back. Key fast break points from Kaci White and Karen Porl tightened the game down the stretch. Big defensive rebounds from Senior Sam Gillingham kept MacDuffie off the scoreboard. A key fast break and foul shot by Karen Porl put VA up by two, but MacDuffie would answer with under a minute to play to tie it at 26-26. VA got the last shot but missed sending the game to over time. The 4 minute overtime would be exciting, as the two teams traded baskets. Key buckets by Kaci White kept VA ahead, and a big bucket by Karen Porl put VA up 32-30. MacDuffie would get one final chance, but great defense by the home team sealed the win. Thanks go to the three Seniors on the team: Marina Porl, Qwyen Austin and Sam Gillingham.
