 Bio

Ms. Parkhurst is the chair of the Science Department and teaches Chemistry, AP Chemistry and Organic Biochemistry. In the fall she hopes to coach a girls' field hockey team and in the spring you can find her coaching softball. Ms. Parkhurst-Ascher received Vermont’s Outstanding Teacher Award in 1998, and was listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 2003-06. She chose teaching, because she finds it to be hard work with wonderful rewards, and each day bringing new and different challenges. Her hobbies include traveling cross-country with her family in their RV, camping, antiquing, refinishing furniture, and exercising. Her favorite quote is: "I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do. ” from Russell C. Taylor.  Ms. Parkhurst-Ascher lives off-campus with her husband, Stephen and son, Adin.
