Ms. Murphy started her teaching career in Memphis, TN and also worked in Northampton MA before coming to Vermont Academy in 1987. Over her years here, Ms. Murphy worked with the music, theater, and international programs as well as in the English department. She is now in the English department full time. She delights in sharing ideas with her students and using literature and writing as a venue for exploring and interpreting the world around us. She believes that our lives are enriched by the stories that we share. Her hobbies include camping and backpacking as well as traveling all over the world.  She loves to read, create music, and do woodworking. Ms. Murphy lives in her own home near the campus and loves being able to walk to work.
