VA Speaker's Series
This year's speaker theme is "The Power of Language." All programs take place in the Choukas Theater in Horowitz Performing Arts Hall and are open to the public. The VA Speakers' Series is underwritten by supported by the Bob ('37) and Beth Campbell Endowment.

Jack Beatty, NPR "On Point" news analyst and long time senior editor of The Atlantic Monthly, will speak about campaign issues in the November elections in a talk about individualism and community. This program is supported by the Bob ('37) & Beth Campbell Endowment and is open to the public.

Bill Gregory, a retired minister, participated in civil rights demonstrations and marches with Medgar Evers, the Mississippi state field secretary for the NAACP who in 1963 was gunned down in the driveway of his home in Jackson. He remains a close friend with Evers' widow, Myrlie Evers. He will be our featured speaker for Martin Luther King Day.

People often leave NTD performances saying "How did they do that?" or "How can I do that?" This workshop for students and the general public will help answer those questions.

Geof Hewitt is the Slam Poet Laureate of Vermont, not that there is one but if there was one he'd be the one. Geof is a poet, teacher, trainer and wonderfully cheerful human being. If you hear about any of his slams, go to them. And go armed with a couple of poems.
