Nate Williams came to us in the winter of 2012 after working at Farm & Wilderness, a non-profit organization that specializes in outdoor education. At Farm & Wilderness he learned the value of the outdoors as a meaningful teaching tool for young people and the positive impact it has on the many different learning styles we see today in our classroom. Nate combines this concept with the teaching strategies he learned from studying in the Masters of Education program at Castleton State College to bring an enthusiastic and diverse approach to the classroom here at Vermont Academy.
Nate has been in and out of the classroom for years, working with youth everywhere from a grammar school in Chacocente, Nicaragua to the ecological classroom at Smokey House Center in Danby, VT. In his free time, Nate enjoys playing in the great outdoors, hiking, nature writing, snowboarding, and playing music. If he is not in the woods, you would find him on the sports field playing soccer or throwing a Frisbee. Nate was a four year member of the varsity men’s soccer program at Castleton, receiving an Academic All-American honor in his final season. He spent two years as an assistant coach for the Women’s Varsity soccer team at Castleton State College, providing him with solid experience that will benefit the soccer program here at Vermont Academy.
