  Bio:

Ben recently joined the Vermont Academy faculty to teach history after having spent 7 years teaching English, most recently at Marquette University High School in Milwaukee. Ben met his wife, Courtney, who is from vermont and teaches nearby at Leland and Gray High School, at Middlebury College and instantly fell in love with Vermont. They were both ready to move to the Green Mountain State and start fresh professional and personal lives.

At VA, Ben will teach U.S. History and World History and Cultures, and he will coach some combination of cross country, basketball, and tennis. After having taught at an all boys' school, an all girls' school and a co-ed day school, Ben is excited for the opportunity to teach and live at a boarding school.

Ben joins the VA tennis program after coaching a highly-competitive program at Marquette University High School in Milwaukee, a program that boasts not only many state championships but also a program that sends players each year to D-1, D-2 and D-3 college programs. As a player, Ben won 4 state championships in Wisconsin in high school and was recruited to play in college; however, he decided to attend the University of Wisconsin where, rather than being a practice player on the tennis team, he participated in the school's competitive intramural program.

In his free time, Ben loves to run, to go for walks and hikes, to read newspapers and magazines, to watch movies, to eat good food, and to grab a a novel and go to a cafe for a cup of coffee.

Ben lives in 25 House with wis wife, Courtney; their son, Gavin; and their two dogs, Mani and Cooper.
